What's the plan?
At 4,167 metres, Toubkal isn't just a mountain, it's a statement.
Rising above the Atlas range as the undisputed roof of North Africa, it draws those who crave more than a holiday: people who want to feel something. The burn in their legs. The silence of altitude. The moment the summit reveals itself at dawn. Our Toubkal trek is built around that moment.
Over four days, you'll trade city noise for the crunch of trail underfoot, winding through ancient Berber villages, dramatic valleys, and high-altitude terrain that feels like another world. Our experienced local mountain guides don't just lead the way, they open doors. To stories, to traditions, to a way of life in the Atlas that few travellers ever witness up close.
This isn't a technically demanding climb, but it is a genuine adventure : Expect long days, big elevation gains, and the kind of effort that makes reaching the top feel truly earned. We keep groups small, routes well-planned, and safety non-negotiable so you can focus entirely on the experience.
Whether this is your first major summit or one of many, Toubkal has a way of surprising you.
The mountain is waiting. Are you ready?
The Program
Day 1 — Arrival in Morocco : Your adventure begins the moment you land. We'll pick you up from the airport and transfer you to your hotel in Marrakech for check-in. The rest of the day is yours, wander the medina, soak up the atmosphere of Jemaa el-Fna square, or simply rest and get ready for what's ahead. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2 — Marrakech → Toubkal Refuge : After breakfast, we leave the city behind. A scenic 90-minute transfer takes you to Imlil/Armed, a charming Berber village nestled in the Atlas foothills, where you'll have lunch and sort your kit for the days ahead. Anything you don't need on the mountain can be left safely stored here.
By midday, the trek begins. The trail winds steadily upward through dramatic mountain scenery for around 5 hours, with a packed lunch along the way. You'll arrive at the refuge around 17:00 — time to rest, take in the views, and settle in before dinner at 19:30. Overnight at the refuge.
11 km / +1,200 m elevation gain
Day 3 — Summit Day & Return to Marrakech : This is the day you came for.
Breakfast is served early, 3:30 AM in summer, 4:00 AM in winter, because the goal is simple: reach the summit of North Africa in time for sunrise. The ascent takes you first over Toubkal West, before the final push to the main peak at 4,167 m, a climb of 6 km and +900 m, roughly 2h30 of focused effort.
Then, from the top of a continent, you watch the Atlas light up around you.
The descent varies by season. When snow-free, you'll take an alternative route down the far side of the mountain, passing the fascinating wreckage of a military aircraft that crashed in the 1970s. In winter conditions, the descent follows the ascent route. Either way, it's a long and rewarding journey back : 17 km / −2,100 m, around 7 hours to Armed.
Pick up your stored gear, enjoy a well-earned lunch, then transfer back to Marrakech for a free evening. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 4 — Return Flight : After a final breakfast, we'll transfer you to the airport for your flight back.
WHO IS THIS EXPERIENCE DESIGNED FOR?
This trek is designed for people who are ready to commit and are not afraid of a challenge.
You don't need technical climbing skills or prior high-altitude experience. What you do need is a solid base fitness level, a willingness to push through long days on the trail, and the mental resilience to keep going when the altitude starts to bite.
Expect multi-hour ascents, significant elevation changes, early mornings, and an incredible sense of achievement at the top.
Not recommended for people with no regular physical activity, those with heart or respiratory conditions, or anyone who hasn't done any preparation beforehand.
If you're unsure whether this experience is right for you, just get in touch & we're happy to help you figure it out.
